In September, Cc Strombeek will present 3 exhibitions on the art of drawing. The artists An Roovers, Obi Okigbo and Nel Maertens each give shape to the medium in their own way. The exhibitions are presented in the context of the Brussels Drawing Week (14-19 September), during which some 40 cultural institutions will be putting contemporary drawing in the spotlight.

An Roovers
Tranquility in time
3 September – 6 October 2021
Cultuurcentrum Strombeek – Studio S

Intuitive sculptural interventions: the work of An Roovers (1985) is best described as three-dimensional drawing. Through a process of earth and clay, she exposes the transformative power of time.

Obi Okigbo
Planting new Mbari’s
3 September – 6 October 2021
Cultuurcentrum Strombeek – Passage

African, Nigerian, Igbo, British and Belgian: Obi Okigbo (1964) finds inspiration in all aspects of life. The result: an intense reflection on the ‘now’, both on a personal level and beyond, rich in materials and references.

Nel Maertens
A Green Charade
3 September – 6 October 2021
Cultuurcentrum Strombeek – Kabinet

The young artist Nel Maertens (1996) explores colour, composition, material, writing and energy in her refreshing drawings. Discover, among other things, natural landscapes in oil stick and pastel.
