Established in spring 2019, ELEVEN STEENS is a new space dedicated to contemporary creation with an entirely comprehensive approach, covering art, design, applied arts, fashion, architecture and, of course, the living arts. A place of exploration and creation, it invites primarily young artists to express themselves through material, with exhibitions, performances, conferences, workshops and more.

It strives to be an alternative place, a unique and independent platform where young artists, designers and artisans can meet with the local people of Saint-Gilles, as well as the residents of Brussels and, more widely, a network of international collectors.

Material – or rather, the materials at the heart of each new invitation – represent a sort of common thread, with the aim of themed exhibitions and successful events.

At the heart of the organisation, the collection belonging to the space’s owner and creator might inspire the programme, or simply provide a dialogue throughout the exhibitions being held. An exclusive floor will soon be dedicated to this collection, with a more intimate feel and reserved for private visits.

Jean-Marc Dimanche is in charge of the artistic direction of the place and ensures its programming.
