Founded by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1801, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium hold the most important collection of visual arts of the country. Through paintings, sculptures and drawings, over 20.000 artworks and six museums tell our History, from the 15th to the 21st century. The Magritte, Old Masters, Fin-de-Siècle and Modern (selection) Museum as well as the studios of artists Antoine Wiertz and Constantin Meunier represent a unique cultural heritage. It is internationally renowned for the largest collection of Magritte in the world and its collection of Pieter Bruegel the Elder – the second largest in the world. The RMFAB aim to preserve, study, enhance, and enrich the artistic heritage of Belgium while engaging the Museums as actors of cultural, economic and social progress.

With 1.1 million visitors welcomed in 2019, the RMFAB is Belgium’s most visited museum and is ranked in the Top 100 of the most popular art museums worldwide
